Founded in 1572, Harrow School is one of the nine most prestigious and oldest public schools in the UK. In November 2017, the Management Committee of Liangjiang New Area and Harrow International signed an investment agreement to formally introduce and establish K-12 International Private School Chongqing Harrow Innovation Leadership Academies. Harrow Innovation Leadership Academy Chongqing (AISL Harrow Chongqing) is located in the Liangjiang New Area of Chongqing, providing world class K-12 bilingual education to students on an outstanding campus designed for both day students and boarders. In terms of structure, Harrow Innovation Leadership Academies has a British principal and a Chinese principal. The Chinese teacher team led by the Chinese principal is in charge of teaching four subjects: Chinese, ideology and morality, history, and geography, all of which will be taught in Chinese. The foreign teacher team is responsible for all subjects in primary school, mathematics, science, English, and computer, all of which will be taught in English. AISL Harrow Chongqing covers an area of 135,000 sqm. It can accommodate 2,400 students, including 540 boarders (from Grade 5 and above). The campus embraces the natural contours and vistas of the site to integrate nature into the daily experience of the students and staff. The architecture of the school’s buildings echoes the original design of ‘Harrow School on the Hill’, and their renowned buildings in north London, using contemporary design concepts to create a truly British ‘Harrovian’ environment, with an eye to the future. The campus fully embraces Harrow’s requirement to put the students first when considering design, emphasizing the relationships between people, buildings, the wider environment and space, carefully connecting these elements.
