Position Details:

• Teaching Position: TEACHER OF EAL (English as an Additional Language)
• Location: Huangpu District, Shanghai
• Work Hours: Monday to Friday 8:00AM to 4:30PM

Job Duty Overview:

• Teaching EAL to classes of students in grades 6 to 12
• Preparing students for EAL qualifications as required
• Differentiating classroom instruction to meet student’s individual learning needs and styles
• Evaluating and marking students’ work, giving appropriate feedback and maintaining records of students’ progress and development
• Participating in regular departmental meetings, INSET, school training events, observation and professional review in order to maximize the quality of teaching
• Working as a team planning lessons, collaboratively developing and following a grade level essential requirement
• Fostering a stimulating learning environment based on understanding and respect

Requirements:

• Native level of English
• Minimum two years’ teaching experience and the capability of teaching EAL to all age groups 11-18
• Ability to communicate in English with pupils, colleagues and parents, with support for interpretation into Chinese where necessary, and to build strong relationships with all members of the school community
• Ability to work collaboratively
• Familiarity with various teaching resources including, where appropriate, digital tools to support and enhance teaching and learning
• Sensitivity to the cultural differences found in China and the willingness to develop and maintain a cross-cultural approach to work
• A willingness and commitment to contribute fully to the life of the pupils and school beyond the academic day, including active participation in the academic enrichment and co-curricular programmes
• Experience of teaching IELTS or IGCSE will be beneficial.
